Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho was helped off the field in the third inning of Saturday’s game against the Athletics with a left hamstring injury.
Varsho grabbed the hamstring after rounding second as he attempted to stretch a double to a triple. He was easily out at third and collapsed at the bag.
The 28-year-old is an elite defensive outfielder with 75 career defensive runs saved. Baseball Savant ranks him in the 89th percentile in fielding run value this season.
This season, Varsho has played in 24 games, posting eight home runs and 20 RBIs and a .207./240/.543 slash line.
Toronto has a 14-9 record with him in the lineup entering Saturday, compared to a 15-19 record with him out.
Myles Straw replaced Varsho in center field in the top of the fourth.
